Content is gathered by self-archiving or mediated archiving . Self-archiving is where the author of the publication is registered as an e-user on the system and hence can make a submission anytime by himself/herself. Mediated archiving on the other hand is when the staff of the IR receive content and submit it on behalf of the author to be archived on the system.
